Hays Area Children's Center Mission: To provide and promote quality care and educational experiences for young children and families.
HACC was first named the Hays Daycare Center for Exceptional Children and founded in the spring of 1966 through the combined efforts of parents, the Special Education Department at FHSU, and The Arc of Central Plains.
Our current programs and services include: Licensed Child Care, Infant Toddler Early Intervention, Healthy Start Home Visitor, and Child Care Aware® of Northwest Kansas.
Hays Area Children's Center is also an Ellis County United Way Partner Agency. Thank you to United Way for helping children and families.

HACC is closed when USD 489 (Hays Public Schools) is closed for bad weather. If you hear that USD 489 is closed due to winter weather on the radio or TV, HACC will be closed, too. We strive to communicate a school closure to families in several ways:
- Local Radio (KAYS – 1400 AM)
- Emergency Alert System (texts and/or e-mails) from USD 489
- HACC E-mail List
- Facebook
- HACC website (www.hacc.info)
If you would like to receive emergency messages from HACC, including school closings, go to: www.usd489.com to register with the USD 489 Emergency Alert System.
On the home page, select the “Parent Resources” tab on the upper right part of the screen. Once you are on the “Parent Resources” page, click on the “textCaster” tab on the lower left side of the page and subscribe to the service. Provide the requested information and be sure to mark HACC as one of the schools that you would like to receive information from via e-mail and/or text messages. Contact HACC or USD489 with any questions.
If you want to change your message preferences or unsubscribe, simply click on the "Sign-up Now" link used to begin this process and find the "Unsubscribe/Change Message Preferences" link at the bottom of that page. Click on the link and follow the simple instructions.
